UPDATE: Man Dies in Big Rig Crash

A crash at the Winchester Road off-ramp from southbound Interstate 15 between a big rig and a car turned deadly Friday morning.

More details were released about a fatal crash Friday morning at the Winchester Road off-ramp from Interstate 15 in Temecula.

The crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. as a 1997 Toyota parking lot vacuum truck hit a semi tractor-trailer, according to a report provided by California Highway Patrol.

The big rig had pulled off on the shoulder to call in for directions from his dispatch center, according to the report.

The Toyota was traveling at about 35 to 40 mph, and according to a witness was seen weaving in traffic prior to the crash, the report stated.

The Toyota drifted onto the shoulder and hit the back of the tractor-trailer on the right side, killing the driver upon impact, according to the report. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was a 34-year-old Wildomar man, though his name was not released pending notification of his family.

CHP was continuing its investigation into the crash.
