Last week, a 63-year-old Lake Elsinore man who suffers from Alzheimer's disease was reported missing and police say they are still looking for him.

Craig Staneart, who is prone to extreme confusion, wandered away from his home in the 29000 block of Maes Avenue around 5:20 p.m. Feb. 7, according to Sgt. Marc Cloutier of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Staneart is described as a white male adult, approximately 6’1” tall, weighing about 185 lbs. He was last seen wearing a blue denim jacket, red shirt and blue jeans.

Family members reported Staneart missing the morning of Feb. 8.

“The Lake Elsinore Police Department searched the area with the assistance of the department helicopter, and trained search dogs. As of this writing Mr. Steneart's whereabouts are unknown,” Cloutier said.

A missing person flier is being distributed to local law enforcement agencies, the sergeant confirmed.

I think the community and authorities have made a concerted effort in trying to locate Craig and are continuing to do so. If the word could get out to every person to check their property (open access to sheds and such) then at least those possibilities could be eliminated. Riverside Transit Agency has flyers posted on their buses in case he had gotten on one.

The satellite view shows a possible route from Lakeshore Drive to Horsethief Canyon Ranch. When she saw the poster on a pole she said I saw him (no height was on the poster, but she said this man was really tall). My wife submitted a report last night claiming she saw a man that looked like Craig on Saturday at approx. 3PM at the top of Horsethief Cyn. Road just down from the riparian preserve trail (Mountain Rd. & Horsethief Cyn. Rd.). Don't stop your efforts @ Lakeshore/Dryden, just consider the possibility. My boots are on and I'll walk the trail to East Horsethief Trail above Pacific Clay.

the helicopter was out more than once... not only did they do a close low level ground search, they hit the hills and deep canyons where most cant get to. i personally took his daughter well over 300 miles on nearly every path, road , trail and open fenced area i could find. we spend nearly 3 days together looking all over.. el toro rd. and back thru the canyons, behind canyon lake and thru the hills, all over the lake's shore line and parks, from lake to nichols on/off road and on foot. all the areas between the 15 and lakeshore dr... under all the freeway culverts to railroad canyon, even down around the airport and the race track... we didnt miss much and he has still not been found.... very frustrating to try so hard only to end up with empty hands.... hopefully, he pops up and suddenly as he disappeared...

Every business, school, person should do a check around their perimeter of the buildings or homes too. This should be asked of the community.
