Jury Finds Murrieta Man Guilty in Child Sexual Abuse Case

Brian Keith Figge, 49, faces up to 60 years in prison after a jury found him guilty Friday of 12 counts related to the sexual abuse of two child victims.

A Murrieta man recently convicted of sexually abusing two children under 14 years old faces up to 60 years in prison.

Brian Keith Figge, 49, was taken into sheriff’s custody Friday, Dec. 14 after a jury found him guilty of one count of aggravated assault of a child, three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a minor with force, one count of sodomy with a child younger than 14, four counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child younger than 14, and three counts of oral copulation of a child younger than 14 by force, court records showed.

The crimes, first reported in April 2010, came to the attention of the Murrieta Police Department when a friend of one of the victims came forward, Murrieta police Lt. Tony Conrad told Patch.

Conrad would not reveal in what capacity Figge knew the victims, saying that information as well as their identities was confidential. Court documents identify the victims only as Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2.

Figge’s trial lasted 11 days, four of which the jury deliberated before finding him guilty on all counts, according to court records.

A number of Murrieta police officers and detectives testified during the trial.

Figge is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 25, 2013, pending a doctor’s report.

He is jailed at Southwest Detention Center while he awaits sentencing.

Figge faces a maximum 60 years in prison, according to John Hall, spokesperson for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
