Patch is awaiting return calls from that bureau and will provide updates as they become available.

Original Tuesday night story as follows:

A large law enforcement presence in Menifee Tuesday evening is sparking community interest, but police are staying tight-lipped on the situation.

Witnesses have told Patch that they've seen an armored truck, a sheriff's helicopter and several police units on scene in the area of Murrieta and Ethanac roads.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, they are the lead agency on scene, and are being assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

An LASD Spokeswoman tells Patch that the agency's major crimes bureau is on scene "...regarding a warrant service."  The spokeswoman could not provide additional details as to the nature of the warrant.

Riverside County Sheriff's Department Spokesman Albert Martinez tells Patch they are helping out with traffic control in the area, because the activity has forced the closure of Murrieta Road south of Ethanac Road.

Witness reports of the activity started around 8 p.m., but it's not yet clear what time the operation started.

Patch will update this news story as more details become available.
