Injured Youth Rescued From Tenaja Falls

Paramedics responded to Tenaja Falls, west of Murrieta, after getting a call at about 3:44 p.m. Thursday that a young person had been injured.

An injured youth had to be airlifted from Tenaja Falls west of Murrieta Thursday afternoon.

Authorities learned at about 3:44 p.m. that a young person was suffering from moderate injuries, prompting the rescue effort, said Melody Hendrickson, spokeswoman for Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The waterfall and natural recreation area is located in the Cleveland National Forest, west of Santa Rosa Plateau and La Cresta. The remote area consists of rough terrain, off the unpaved and windy, sometimes one lane, Cleveland Forest Road.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service cooperated in the rescue effort that involved 11 firefighters, three engines and an air ambulance.

The youth, whose age was not given, was transported via the air ambulance to an area hospital.
