Home Burglarized in Murrieta When Suspects Ask to Use Restroom

One of the suspects asked to use the restroom, while the other distracted the homeowner, police said.

An elderly person was the victim of a residential burglary Wednesday when police say two subjects--a male and a female--approached a Murrieta home asking to use the restroom.

About 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, the couple, both described as Hispanic, knocked on the door of a home in the 38000 block of Via Azul, said Murrieta police Sgt. Don Weller.

The suspects were invited in under the pretense that the man had to use the restroom, while the female suspect engaged the victim in conversation, Weller said. Once out of the restroom, the couple left. The victim realized later that jewelry was missing and called police.
