UPDATE: Suspect Still At Large In Home Invasion Robbery In French Valley

Two women were allegedly pepper-sprayed, tied up and one was pistol-whipped, according to a sheriff's report.

More details were released about a home invasion robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon in French Valley.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Kevin McDonald, two women were allegedly tied up, pepper-sprayed and one was pistol-whipped.

Two masked robbers were allegedly inside the home on Hidden Trail Court when the woman who owns the house and her friend arrived at the residence on Hidden Trail Court, McDonald said.

"They were immediately confronted inside of the residence by two masked men who were armed with pepper spray and a pistol," McDonald said.

The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and other valuables and then fled from the residence, the sergeant said.

One of the suspects was apprehended while driving on Auld Road near the Southwest Sheriff's Station, McDonald said.

"In addition, evidence from the robbery was recovered from the vehicle," he said.

The suspect who was arrested was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on home invasion robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges, McDonald said.

The other suspect was still outstanding, he said.

One suspect was in custody and one was still at large following a home invasion robbery in French Valley Wednesday.

At about 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 36800 block of Hidden Trail Court in Winchester, according to sheriff's Deputy Angel Ramos.

 Ramos told Patch that two men entered the home and assaulted two women. 

“The suspects fled the scene and one suspect has been arrested,” Ramos said. “The second suspect is still outstanding and we are currently searching for him.”

At least one sheriff’s bloodhound was searching for the suspect, Patch learned on scene.

One victim was transported with non-life threatening injuries to a local hospital.

During the search, streets around Auld Road and Hidden Trail Court were closed, Patch learned.

French Valley Elementary Schoo was on lockdown during the search for the suspect. The students were released at about 4 p.m.

Deputies stopped searching for the suspect around 5:30 p.m., Patch learned on scene.

Road closures were lifted shortly after the search was discontinued.

Roads were closed while police searched for a gun-wielding suspect today.

Streets affected were in the neighborhoods near Auld Road and Hidden Trail Court as of about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Information on the suspect or the incident leading to the search was unavailable as of publication time.

One nearby school, French Valley Elementary, was put on lockdown during the search. The students had just been released as of 4 p.m.
