UPDATE: Suspect Still At Large In Home Invasion Robbery In French Valley

Two women were allegedly pepper-sprayed, tied up and one was pistol-whipped, according to a sheriff's report.

More details were released about a home invasion robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon in French Valley.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Kevin McDonald, two women were allegedly tied up, pepper-sprayed and one was pistol-whipped.

Two masked robbers were allegedly inside the home on Hidden Trail Court when the woman who owns the house and her friend arrived at the residence on Hidden Trail Court, McDonald said.

"They were immediately confronted inside of the residence by two masked men who were armed with pepper spray and a pistol," McDonald said.

The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and other valuables and then fled from the residence, the sergeant said.

One of the suspects was apprehended while driving on Auld Road near the Southwest Sheriff's Station, McDonald said.

"In addition, evidence from the robbery was recovered from the vehicle," he said.

The suspect who was arrested was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on home invasion robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges, McDonald said.

The other suspect was still outstanding, he said.

Road closures were lifted shortly after the search was discontinued.

I'm glad the ladies were not seriously hurt. I would like to know if these men broke a window to get in or entered through an unlocked door or what! My kids are a little freaked that he's still out there and we are keeping everything locked up.
JJ Mclure May 17, 2012 at 04:16 PM
can't handle when you're countrymen commit crimes, eh?
Kevin May 17, 2012 at 05:06 PM
Would you say that crime has increased or decreased since the medical marijuana clinics were forced to closed?
William May 17, 2012 at 05:25 PM
How safe is this area? We moved 1 street over from where this happened about a year ago and there have been 2 school lockdowns in the past 6 months. Not a good start for a new school year.

Legalizing weed would totally decrease this type of violence cuz people will be living young, and wild, free cuz that's how's supposed to be; right? They probably liked being tied up people on that side of benton are weird.
wclarke May 17, 2012 at 05:40 PM
from the PE: "Steven Ray Miler was arrested on suspicion of home invasion robbery and assault with a deadly weapon" not very hispanic sounding. just another white criminal i guess. like usual.
Hardone Buttmanos May 17, 2012 at 05:56 PM
You know what? This report is inaccurate, there was two suspects not one, one was detained the other at large.
Lyndsay May 17, 2012 at 05:59 PM
Have they caught the second guy yet! Please update! Not in the mood to be robbed or assaulted!!!
Duncan Shand May 17, 2012 at 06:18 PM

Why racial comments? Please!

Why does there seem to be so much of this kind of thing in French Valley? For heaven's sake the jail is right there. You'd think the police presence would be enough to keep this stuff at bay.

Per Deputy Alberto Martinez, there are no updates at this time. One suspect remains in custody but they are not releasing his identity just yet.
Brenda May 17, 2012 at 08:16 PM
The article is correct. I think you just want us all to repeat your name. It does state two suspects and also that one is still at large.

Thanks for the update. The one they caught should belly up soon and give the location or possible whereabouts of his partner in crime. He will be caught soon I imagine, BUT, its always a good idea to keep everything LOCKED UP. WE DO NOT live in an age anymore where we can leave our front doors back doors open to the breeze, and our windows. We live in an age where everything is locked up tight, alarm is set at home or away, and a 357 handy. Its unfortunate and sad to live this way, but that is what it has come to. Keep the windows, doors locked people so they cannot get in, and set the alarms! Alarms are only around 35 bucks a month to monitor, and big big dogs! People run from my house before they even get to the front door as soon as they hear my shephard bark.

William, go back in the archives. Temecula and areas around us have seen a raise in all crimes I think. I just paste'd these from the left of this screen. There are alot that arent on this list and may be in Temecula Patch. Also any Cities that sit near to major freeways through Counties are going to be victim to transcient crime also, other then normal day to day local crimes. A Co "Killers" 1-184 AASLT Baghdad, OIF3 You need my DD214? I have it for my logo cause I'm proud of it. I actually earned mine. It's the only award I give a damn about. You sound like one of those IVAW pussies.
Troy May 17, 2012 at 10:19 PM
Right on. Sorry for the hostilities. That's exactly what I had thought you were getting at. It gets me pissed when I've actually met the criteria countless times over there, then see punks get it for mortar fire that landed 300 meters away. Couple that with the stupid CAB that the Army created a few years ago, and you get me, pissed when I think someone questions me on my integrity. Lots of respect here for Vietnam Vets, especially you crazy ass Rangers.

The article is ok, but not completely accurate…the friend of the homeowner, immediately starts to wiggle her hands free from the tie backs...He proceeds to run tie-backs through their mouths and around their heads to gag them...the friend remains calm although full of pepper spray in eyes, on face and neck, and now finally hands free...leaves her freed hands behind her back, peering with tearing, burning, eyes relentless as he bent over and placed the pepper spray on the floor...GOING FOR IT...takes the opportunity, grabs the pepper spray...SPISSSSS!!!! Unleases the Wrath of the burn! The masked man gets it in the eyes...she leaps over him and bolts toward the front door, he grabs her by her hair dragging her back to the bedroom, hits her on the head with the gun…soon to convince him to go to kitchen area...she takes that second chance going for the door again... this time making it!!!!!!…The rest...Pure will to SURVIVE!
Brenda May 23, 2012 at 10:46 PM
Agree with you Steve, could be the "one that got away" or one of the women themselves. And then THINK down there wants to lead us on a different trail that there is more of the story of the "RENTERS" it happened to. His emphasis on renters not homeowners. Sounds like a game of Clue except these women were beat, sprayed, hit with a gun, but thank god not shot and killed. Guess we will find out more as the case progresses. The imlivingproof guy seems either upset with himself or congratulating her getting loose from them. "Pure will to SURVIVE! which she definately had and she was not going to give up. God bless em.
