UPDATE: Fire in Winchester Mapped at 28 Acres

The blaze at Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road was reported at 10:26 a.m. Monday.

UPDATE 1:40 p.m. Monday:

A brush fire that broke out Monday in Winchester spread to 28 acres when mapped, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire was 100 percent controlled and was contained at 28 acres as of the latest update.

A brush fire Monday morning in Winchester was contained at six acres, authorities reported.

Northeast of Murrieta, the Hill Fire was reported at about 10:26 a.m. at Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department incident report.

Fifty-four firefighters were battling the vegatation blaze that had already consumed two acres. A helicopter and two air tankers were also called in.

There was no threat to structures, and no injuires were reported.

Crews were expected to remain on scene for at least two hours.

No evacuations were ordered and no road closures were in effect, according to Riverside County fire spokesperson Cheri Patterson.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
