According to Murrieta police Officer Rob Aberle, Kapur was traveling west on Murrieta Hot Springs, just before the freeway on-ramps, and appeared to cross over into the eastbound lanes in an attempt to enter the freeway from the wrong ramp.

One of the detainees in the sheriff's car--which was unmarked and used for anti-gang purposes--suffered a broken nose while the other complained of wrist pain due to being handcuffed when the impact occurred, Aberle said. The deputy suffered a 4-inch-long gash on his arm, he said.
