Riverside police Wednesday released a composite sketch of the man who abducted a UC Riverside student from a parking garage and later dropped her at the same location after she persuaded him to let her go.
Investigators hope someone might recognize the person depicted in the drawing and call in with tips.
The sketch shows a white man, 30 to 40 years old, scruffy in appearance, a mole on his left cheek, and medium-length hair that the victim described as dirty blonde.
According to the psychology major, she was shopping Sunday and returned to her vehicle in the University Towers parking lot in the 3500 block of Iowa Avenue around 3:15 p.m. when an unknown assailant grabbed her from behind and forced her into his vehicle, tying her up and placing a garment over her head to obscure her vision.
The victim told police that she was struck several times by the man, who was dressed in black and driving a 2009 or newer charcoal gray Nissan Sentra.
The woman said she broke free of her restraints and convinced the kidnapper that what he was doing was wrong and to take her back to her vehicle, which he did about an hour later, then fled the area.
Anyone with information was asked to call Detective Rick Cobb at (951) 353-7135, or Detective Rick Wheeler at (951) 353-7134.
