Deputies Dub French Valley 'Coffee with a Cop' Program a Success

The informal "meet and greet" event was held last weekend at a Murrieta eatery.

The following is a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department:

Deputies from several divisions of the Riverside Sheriff's Department's Southwest Station to include Patrol, School Resources Officers, Crime Prevention, Chaplain Services, Corrections and Administration were on hand at Aromas Café, located at 29950 Hunter Rd #103 in the city of Murrieta this past Saturday, June 14, 2014 between 8:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. to share a cup of coffee with local citizens of the French Valley community.

Southwest Station Deputies were engaged in various topics of discussion with numerous residents over the course of the event.  Our Coffee with a Cop event allowed the public to meet with Riverside County Sheriff's Department law enforcement personnel in a relaxed environment and talk about a wide range of issues.  Deputies exchanged ideas about public safety, directions of law enforcement as we go forward, and share some of the most rewarding and difficult aspects of being a cop today.  During these discussions, deputies were able to listen to issues and concerns from the community. This Coffee with a Cop event broke down barriers and allowed for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

This program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time. Southwest Station will continue events in the near future and will announce the next Coffee with a Cop event.
