Crash: Vehicle Hits Utility Pole

Crash on Madison requires repair work on pole

A pickup truck crashed into a utility pole on Madison Avenue at Murrieta Hot Springs Road on Tuesday morning, bringing down the pole and strewing hot wires across Madison.

The road reopened to traffic at 1 p.m. after Southern California Edison crews fixed the pole and restrung the power lines, Murrieta police said.

At 6:15 a.m. a pickup truck driver made the turn onto Madison and accidentally drove into the pole, according to Murrieta Police Sgt. John Flavin. The driver was uninjured, he said.

However, the pole fell, and the power lines went with it, blocking both lanes of Madison until repairs could be made. Power was off for about 10 minutes, police said.
