UPDATE: Time Warner Service Knocked Out to Thousands
The event was reported about 2:06 p.m. at Murrieta Hot Springs Road, near Margarita Road, according to police.
Updated 4:20 p.m.:
An earth mover atop a big rig on Sunday snagged overhead fiber lines, snapping them at the poles and knocking out cable to more than 4,000 customers in the area, a crew member said.
"It looks like a earth mover truck took down a fiber line, a lot of them," Time Warner Cable line worker James Mank told Patch, adding that some 4,600 customers were immediately affected.

A special team was called down from Riverside to re-splice the microfibers; from 70 to 200 microfibers are found within each fiber, Mank said.
"Each one has to be re-spliced," he told Patch.

It would take a minimum of four hours to get the lines fixed, he said, but warned that if there are many microfibers damaged, it would take much longer.

Updated 3:53 p.m.:
Southern California Edison has confirmed that no electrical power lines were involved in the event that prompted closure of roads in Murrieta Sunday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, cable lines were affected.

A big rig Sunday knocked out cable lines on Murrieta Hot Springs Road knocked out power lines and forced closure of the road from Margarita to Via Princesa roads.
The event was reported about 2:06 p.m. at Murrieta Hot Springs Road, near Margarita Road, according to police.
The road was shut down at MHS and Via Princesa and the closure was expected to last for an extended amount of time, according to the California Highway Patrol incident page.
Scanner chatter indicated that cones and vehicles were being placed on MHS and Margarita roads as well.
