Comedian Andy Dick Arrested in Temecula; Had 2008 Arrest in Murrieta

Actor and comedian Andy Dick, 45, was arrested in Temecula, sheriff’s officials said today. It was the second time he was arrested in the Temecula Valley since 2008.

The incident happened at 9:20 p.m. Monday at Marie Callender’s Restaurant at 29363 Rancho California Rd., according to sheriff’s Lt. Robert Moquin.

Dick “was intoxicated and causing a disturbance in the bar area,” the lieutenant wrote in a report.

Dick was drunk and out of control, and he was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, Moquin wrote. “He was unable to care for his own safety,” he wrote.

Dick submitted peacefully to deputies, and he was booked into the Southwest Detention Center and released later that night on $500 bail, according to jail records.

Dick was arrested in July 2008 at in Murrieta for getting drunk, urinating in the parking lot and pulling the shirt off a 17-year-old girl, according to the Murrieta Police Department.

Officers found marijuana and prescription drug Xanax in his pockets. He was charged with sexual battery, possession of controlled substances and public intoxication, according to police officials.

Dick was drunk and acting loudly in the restaurant. Then he walked outside, approached two females, grabbed the straps of the young victim’s tank top and bra and yanked them down, exposing her breasts, witnesses told officers.

Several friends walked Dick to a truck, and they were driving away when a Murrieta patrol car stopped them.

It is not known whether Dick resides in the area, but following his 2008 arrest in Murrieta, a longtime friend of his who lives in Menifee said Dick was in town for the friend's father's funeral.

Dick earned national fame for his role in the Ben Stiller Show in the early 1990s. He appeared in numerous movies, such as “Reality Bites” and “The Cable Guy.” He played in comedy show “News Radio” alongside Phil Hartman, Dave Foley and Maura Tierney. He also starred in his own show, “The Andy Dick Show,” on MTV.

The actor has been in and out of legal trouble since crashing a car into a telephone pole in Hollywood in 1999.
