Car Fire Quickly Doused

Murrieta firefighters quickly put out a car fire Monday on the off-ramp from southbound Interstate 15 at Kalmia Street/California Oaks Road.

A car crash resulted in a small engine fire Monday at the southbound Interstate 15 off-ramp to Kalmia Street/California Oaks Road.

The fire, which broke out in the car's engine compartment at about 5:40 p.m. Monday, spread to nearby brush but was quickly put out by Murrieta firefighters, fire Chief Matt Shobert confirmed.

A tow truck was en route to remove the charred car as of 6:12 p.m., California Highway Patrol reported.

No injuries were suffered in the crash or fire, Shobert told Patch.

Only one car was involved in the crash, CHP reported.
