Canadian Skydiver Dies at Perris Valley

Michael Ungar, 32, of Canada, suffered fatal injuries while performing a difficult aerial maneuver Tuesday at Skydive Perris, about 15 miles north of Murrieta.

A skydiver who died Tuesday from injuries suffered during a hard landing at Perris Valley Airport was identified by the sheriff-coroner's office.

The accident was reported just after 2 p.m. on the south end of the field at Skydive Perris, located at 2091 Goetz Road, about 15 miles north of Murrieta.

The skydiver was identified as Michael Ungar, a 32-year-old resident of Ontario, Canada.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, paramedics arrived to find the parachutist not breathing and immediately started CPR. Efforts to revive the victim were unsuccessful.

Ungar "fell into a body of water," according to a coroner's report, and was pronounced dead at 2:25 p.m.

According to a report from Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Sergio Rodriguez, Ungar "was injured during a difficult aerial maneuver. He came to a stop in a shallow pond on the property and his friends removed him from the water."

and one person was seriously injured in two separate skydiving accidents at the airport earlier this year.

Authorities asked anyone with further information about the incident to call the Perris Police Department at 951-210-1000.
