UPDATE: Brush Fire Off Murrieta Hot Springs Stopped at 4 Acres

The fire was reported at about 2 p.m. off Murrieta Hot Springs Road near Calistoga Drive in an unincorporated area of the city.

UPDATE 2:55 p.m.

The forward rate of spread of a grass fire at Calistoga Drive in unincorporated Murrieta was stopped at 4 acres, according to an update from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

"Firefighters will be committed to the scene for approximately one hour," said Melody Hendrickson, a spokesperson for Cal Fire.

The fire had grown to three acres by 2:39 p.m. and  law enforcement was requesting to close Commerce Court Road, Hendrickson said.

The first responding firefighters reported 1 acre of light grass with a medium rate of spread, she said.

There were 19 firefighters and one overhead crew assigned to the fire.

What may have sparked the blaze was under investigation, according to Hendrickson.

County firefighters were on scene of a 1-acre grass fire off Murrieta Hot Springs Road at Calistoga Drive, authorities said.

The light grass fire was reported at 2 p.m, according to Melody Hendrickson, a spokesperson for Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire is in an unincorporated area of the city.
