Big Rig Crash Shuts Down I-215 in Murrieta

The crash was still being cleaned up just before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The crash of a big rig on Interstate 215 south in Murrieta was still being cleaned up more than seven hours after it occurred.

At 1:24 a.m. Tuesday, California Highway Patrol reported that a big rig crashed just south of Scott Road before Keller Road.

No one was injured in the crash when the truck landed approximately 20 feet off the roadway, spreading debris across both lanes, reports said.

Both southbound lanes were closed until just before 5:30 a.m. as crews worked to clean up. The number one lane was reopened at that time.

At 6 a.m., CHP reported the the number two lane would remain closed for up to three more hours.

A motorist said traffic was backed up to at least McCall Road in Menifee.

At 9:09 a.m., CHP reported the closure would be lifted within minutes.
