Bicyclist Injured in Crash With Car

The accident occurred at about 12:51 p.m. near L.A. Fitness in Murrieta.

A bicyclist was injured today in Murrieta when he was hit by a car.

The accident occurred at around 12:51 p.m. on an access road that serves , 40985 California Oaks Road.

The bicyclist, an 18-year-old male, was transported to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center after suffering an abrasion to his head, according to Murrieta police officer K. Stickelman.

Stickelman said it was unclear who was at fault. The vehicle, a white Toyota Celica, was heading west and the bicyclist was heading north when they collided, Stickelman said.

The driver was not immediately cited and police were heading to the hospital to get a statement from the bicyclist.

About an hour earlier, around 11:46 a.m., a person riding a motorized wheel chair was struck by a car near KFC on California Oaks Road.

That person also had to be transported, though details about the accident or the extent of their injuries were not immediately available.

At 12:19 p.m., Murrieta firefighter/paramedics were also busy helping a man who got pinned under his truck while working on it in his driveway and had to call for help from neighbors.

That person was also transported to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries were unknown.
