Armed Robbery Reported at Subway in Murrieta

A suspect wearing a black ski mask and carrying a handgun reportedly walked in and demanded cash Friday from employees of Subway on Hunter Road in Murrieta, police said.

A masked suspect allegedly brandished a handgun and made away with an unknown amount of cash Friday from Subway on Hunter Road in Murrieta, police confirmed.

The alleged armed robbery was reported at about 7:45 p.m. at

"Two employees were working when an individual came in with a gun and wearing a ski mask, demanding the money in the register," Murrieta police Sgt. Jay Froboese said.

"The employees took the till out and put it on the counter and the suspect demanded they put the money in a plastic Subway bag, which they did," Froboese said.

The employees—a male manager and a female worker—told police the suspect then quickly exited the business and walked around the side of the retail center and disappeared.

No injuries were reported by the employees, and there were no customers in the store at the time of the incident.

The suspect was not seen leaving in a vehicle.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall weighing about 140 pounds.

He was dressed in dark-colored clothing, including a black ski mask, a dark long-sleeved jersey and black boots, Froboese said. The handgun was also black, according to the sergeant.

Patrol officers will continue looking for the suspect throughout the evening.

Anyone with information about the investigation may call Murrieta police at 951-696-3615 and ask for the on-duty watch commander.
