Another Storage Trailer Theft Reported in Murrieta Area

The Fight Lab, and now Kona Ice, have fallen victim to recent thefts of storage trailers parked near their businesses in an industrial area of unincorporated Murrieta.

Another Murrieta-area business owner has come forward to say their storage trailer has been stolen.

Patch previously reported that a 28-foot box trailer was reported stolen Jan. 24 from The Fight Lab at 30033 Technology Drive, Suite 101 in unincorporated Murrieta. The owner of the trailer, who said there was several thousand dollars worth of mixed martial arts tournament equipment inside, is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible.

Additionally, Tim Rennick, owner of Kona Ice, told Patch a 12-foot storage trailer recently went missing from behind his warehouse at 38340 Innovation Court, about a block from The Fight Lab.

"If it was not the same night, it was the night after," Rennick said. "The whole trailer is gone."

Kona Ice is a family-operated mobile shaved ice and snack vendor that offers services for special events and fund-raisers.

Rennick estimated that a few thousand dollars worth of Kona Ice-branded equipment was in the trailer that was securely locked when it was taken. The equipment is also unaccounted for, he said.

On Monday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, which has jurisdiction over the unincorporated area, confirmed deputies responded to both thefts.

"We are actively investigating," said sheriff's Sgt. Lisa McConnell.

Anyone with information that may help investigators was encouraged to call the Southwest Sheriff's Station at 951-696-3000 and ask for the on-duty watch commander.
