Alleged 'Plain Jane' Bank Robber Arrested

The so-called "Plain Jane" Bandit, accused of robbing eight banks in Riverside, Los Angeles, and Orange counties, has been arrested in Downey.

A woman suspected of being the "Plain Jane" bandit, who is accused of committing eight bank heists in Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange counties——has been arrested. 

Sylvia Helen Garcia, 38, was arrested last night near her home in Downey, according to FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller, who said multiple tips led to Garcia's arrest, for which there had been a $10,000 reward offered.

At 5:20 p.m. July 24, the Plain Jane Bandit allegedly robbed the U.S. Bank located inside the Wildomar Albertsons grocery store at 23893 Clinton Keith Road, according to the FBI. During her holdup, she used a written and verbal demand and indicated that someone, possibly an accomplice, was waiting for her outside the bank, according to the FBI.

The most recent heist occurred Monday at a Bank of America branch in Downey
at 10010 Paramount Blvd., according to Eimiller.
