Alleged Drunk Driver Smashes Into Parked Car

The accident occurred at about 2:05 a.m. Saturday in the 24600 block of Lincoln Avenue in Murrieta.

An alleged drunk driver plowed into a parked car early Saturday morning, according to Murrieta police.

What appeared to be a Dodge Caravan parked in the 24600 block of Lincoln Avenue sustained major rear end damage.

The incident occurred at about 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Murrieta police Sgt. James Gruwell confirmed Wednesday.

Pablo Santacruz Mendoza, 21, was allegedly driving drunk and on a suspended license, Gruwell told Patch.

He was headed south on Lincoln Avenue in a blue pickup truck when he allegedly ran into the car.

Several witnesses called police to report the crash, Gruwell said.

Mendoza was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center, where he refused treatment for minor injuries, Gruwell said.

His blood was tested at the hospital.

He was then booked at Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license, the sergeant said.

Jail records showed Mendoza was released later that day on $2,500 bail.

Both arrest charges were misdemeanors, according to jail records.
