Alleged Drug Dealer Arrested by Murrieta Police

Earl James, 52, of Winchester, was found in possession of numerous pills including Vicodin, Soma, Oxycodone, Morphine and Oxycotin, police said.

A man suspected of dealing drugs such as Oxycontin and Vicodin was arrested by Murrieta police last week.

Earl Warren James, 52, of Winchester, was stopped along with a fellow subject for suspicious activity July 9 at USA Gas Station at 39055 Winchester Road.

James was allegedly found in possession of numerous pills including Vicodin, Soma, Oxycodone, Morphine and Oxycontin following a search of the vehicle they were in, according to a news release from Murrieta police Sgt. Steve Dyer.

"Based on other evidence located in his vehicle, officers believed (James) possessed the pills for sales purposes," the sergeant said.

The second male was released after questioning.

Officers continued their investigation and eventually served a search warrant at James’ residence in the 36000 block of Fabrizio Lane in Winchester, Dyer said.

"Some of the items seized at his residence were a large amount of cash, paperwork and packaging consistent with drug sales, and a handgun," Dyer said.

James was booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales (under 1 ounce) and transporting a controlled substance. 

James was released Thursday on $25,000 bail. He is due in court on Wednesday.
