Alcohol May Have Factored Into Multi-Car Pileup

The wreck was on 4th Street, east of Navajo Road, and was reported at 8:06 p.m. Saturday.

A speeding motorist lost control of his car as it spun out, crossed into opposite lanes of a Perris street and plowed into another car, a sergeant said today.

The wreck was on 4th Street, east of Navajo Road, and was reported at 8:06 p.m. Saturday. It involved two other cars that crashed into each other while trying to avoid hitting the wayward Toyota Corolla that spun out, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Chris Durham said.

The drivers of the Corolla was heading east on 4th Street when he crossed over the westbound lanes and crashed into a Nissan Altima. Both drivers were taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries, Durham said.

Two other cars, a Toyota Prius and a second Nissan Altima, also collided, Durham said. It was not disclosed whether the drivers in the second crash were hurt.

Sheriff's deputies believed alcohol may have been a factor. Both sides of the street were temporarily shut down because of the crashes, Durham said. --City News Service
