Agents Seize 35 Pounds of Meth

The illegal drugs were confiscated by U.S. Border Patrol agents during a traffic stop Friday where interstates 15 and 215 split, according to a Border Patrol official.

An estimated $705,400—35.27 pounds—worth of meth was recovered last week by U.S. Border Patrol agents during a traffic stop at the border of Murrieta and Temecula.

On Friday, Feb. 17, a 28-year-old female Mexican national driving a white 2006 Ford Fusion was stopped where interstates 15 and 215 split, said Scott Simon, U.S. Border Patrol Agent, San Diego Sector Information and Communication Division, in a news release.

"A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the exterior of the vehicle, and a search by agents led to the discovery of 20 bundles of methamphetamine in hidden compartments inside of the vehicle’s rocker panels," Simon said.

The alleged smuggler along with the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation, he said, and the vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
