4 Injured in Crash on Winchester Road at Scott Road

One person suffered critical injuries and had to be extricated from a vehicle, according to a fire official.

Four people were injured—one critically—Saturday in a crash on Highway 79/Winchester Road northeast of Temecula and Murrieta.

Seventeen CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters responded to the two-car crash that was reported at 4:24 p.m. on Winchester Road north of Scott Road in Winchester, CAL FIRE Spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson stated in an incident report.

They found one patient trapped who had to be extricated.

Crews performed a cut and rescue and were able to extricate the person from the car within about 20 minutes, according to Hendrickson.

Four patients were transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance, one with critical injuries, one with moderate and two with minor injuries.
