The skateboarder, who was approximately 16 years old, suffered head injuries, Murrieta police Sgt. Matt Henry confirmed.

"All we know is he was transported to Inland Valley (Regional Medical Center)," said Henry, who was on scene at the Jefferson and Nutmeg incident.

"We had a juvenile skateboarder who was crossing this intersection. We don't know any details as to who had the green light or the red light at this point," Henry said. "But the juvenile was struck by a vehicle and has head injuries."

It was not immediately known if the boy was wearing a helmet.
