Nineteen people were arrested Wednesday when the Temecula Police Department Traffic Division and the California Highway Patrol-Temecula Office conducted a warrant sweep.

“The goal was to locate and arrest subjects who had outstanding warrants related to traffic offenses within the city of Temecula and the outlying county area,” Temecula police Sgt. Dean Spivacke stated in a news release issued Thursday.

The majority of those taken into custody had outstanding warrants related to alleged DUI offenses, Spivacke told Patch.

A few others had allegedly failed to appear in court for traffic offenses, he said.

The names of those arrested were not disclosed.

The warrant sweep was part of several Spivacke said will be conducted this year in Temecula and the county areas that are within the jurisdiction of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Southwest Station.
