Vista Murrieta Broncos to Host Redlands East Valley

Vista Murrieta Broncos will host Redlands East Valley Friday in the biggest prep football game of the week.

Coach Coley Candaele and his undefeated Broncos host the Redland East Valley Wildcats in what will be the biggest game in local high school football this weekend.

Vista Murrieta is the defending CIF Champion and REV is ranked in the top 10 in the tough Inland Division.

Candaele’s team is 2-0, having knocked off two highly-ranked, out-of-state opponents to open the pre-season. . They then trounced . They are seeded first in the division and fourth in the state.

Coach Candaele has an unofficial 16-game winning streak on the line as he takes his team onto the field this Friday. Looking to deliver the loss to the Broncos and break the streak is Coach Bruich and the Wildcats, who rank 38th in California.

Redlands East Valley is 1-1 and coming off a tough 18-7 loss to rival St. Bonaventure. The Seraphs from Ventura are ranked eighth in the state. Before defeating REV, they beat powerhouse Corona Centennial 40-35 two weeks ago.

REV is tough and defense will be key for a Bronco victory.

The Wildcats are averaging 21.5 points, 60.6 yards in the air and 132 rushing this season. Quarterback Levi Plante has thrown three touchdown passes. Anthony Perez and Hakiem McKenzie are his primary targets. McKenzie is also REV's leading running back.

Vista Murrieta is averaging 43 points, 183 yards passing and 185 yards on the ground through two games. Quarterback Nick Stevens has been exceptional completing 27 out of 39 passes for 366 yards and five touchdowns.

Keiron Long has been the go-to back thus far this season for the Broncos. Offensive linemen Donnell Toliver, James Maloney and center Mark Diano have been a key part of the Bronco success in moving the chains.

Su’a Cravens has been outstanding on both sides of the ball. Treshon Brougton and Bryce Smith are the anchors, while Grant Cleary, Tyler Cook, Ricardo Mermea and Tyler Van Dyk have solidified the Broncos' punishing defense. They have only allowed 34 points in 2 games.

And they are getting better.
