Monsoon Headed for Murrieta Valley

Murrieta Valley Nighthawks get ready to take on the Mayfair High School Monsoon.

Coach Greg Ireland and the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks will host the Monsoon from Mayfair High School for Friday's football match-up.

The Monsoon, coached by Mike Fitch are coming off a 30-20 loss to Downey last week and are looking to rebound at the expense of the Hawks.

Lead by quarterback Christian Woo who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns, the Monsoon have a pass-oriented offense. Nighthawk defenders Lafayette Waters, Damon Nolan and Weston Brown will be tested against Woo.

Mayfair only picked up 49 yards on the ground in its first game. Billy Thomas was the Monsoon‘s primary running back.

Nighthawk defensive linemen Jordan Silva, Michael Payne and middle linebacker Mikey Almodovar are looking to squeeze and deflate the oncoming Monsoon. Murrieta Valley ‘s Kody Thornburg, defensive end De'sean Bullock and Terin Solomon are coming off outstanding defensive performances

The Nighthawk offense found its rhythm in the second half of last week’s 35-15 victory over Temescal Canyon. Quarterback Andrew Blake threw for 140 yards and hit wide receiver Aaron Paisley several times and for a touchdown. Jacob Augustin was impressive as he ran over and through Titan defenders.

Game time is at 7 p.m. at Murrieta Valley High School, 42200 Nighthawk Way, Murrieta.
