Malibu Patch Celebrates 2nd Birthday

The website has succeeded because of the people in the Malibu community.

Two years ago today, Malibu Patch, a community-driven website dedicated to the city of Malibu was born.

I took over the website from Editor Jonathan Friedman in April, and I've been proud to grow the website in its viewers, features and reputation.

The site has continued to grow, not because of me or Jonathan, but because of you— the people who live, work or play in Malibu.

Day and night, my email inbox and cell phone are flooded with news tips, story ideas and suggestions about what is going on around Malibu. I've heard from many of you and I want to hear from even more in 2013. This spirit of collaboration is what makes this site so fun for me to work on and so entertaining for you to read. It captures the spirit of Malibu and the people who make it great.

I am excited about the third year of Malibu Patch and beyond. I hope you are as well, and please share with me your ideas for the site. Contact me at any hour, seven days a week by phone at 310-321-8309 or by email at jessica.davis@patch.com.

Be sure to follow Malibu Patch on Twitter and "Like" us on Facebook.

Thanks for all the kind messages! It's important to note that I don't have a staff. I work collaboratively with members of the Malibu community. Most of the thanks needs to go right back to all of you!

Only 2 years? Seems much longer, Jonathan had set the standard for for Malibu local news during his many years at Malibu Times. Bringing the news to us daily online with the resorces of the Patch network set the standard even higher. Jessica has been up for the challenge. She grabbed the baton that Jonathan passed her without dropping it. Thank you, Jessica, for working so hard daily to bring us the local news and the format to discuss it.
