5 Things to Know in Murrieta: Jan. 5

Head to Temeku Cinemas for a special autistic-friendly movie today at 9 a.m.

1.Showers are likely, mainly after 4 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Otherwise, it will be sunny with a high near 65 today. There is a 80 percent chance of showers and a low around 41 tonight.

2. Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Lakeshore Learning Store, kids can create a photo frame. Located at 24420 Village Walk Place, the activity is free and materials will be provided. Get there early, as it is first come first serve.

3. Got a need to speed? Pole Position Raceway hosts go-kart driving clinics on the first Saturday of each month. The 30-to 45-minute clinic covers everything from line choice, throttle and brake technique to turn-in points, passing tips and how to look for the fastest way around the track. The clinic usually helps drivers shave about two to three seconds off their lap times and, in racing, every second counts. The event is free for members, $10 for non-members.

4.  Ryan’s Comics, 25021 Madison Ave., is hosting a Magic the Gathering draft between 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Admission is $5 per person.

5. Temeku Cinemas,26463 Ynez Road in Temecula, will host a private showing of "Hotel Transylvania" (PG) this morning for children with autism and other special needs. To accommodate those with special needs, the sound will be lowered, the lights dimmed and there will be no previews. Those with a special diet will be allowed gluten-free snacks. Admission is $3.50 per person or purchase a $6 ticket that includes a kid's snack combo. Gluten-free or casein-free snacks will be allowed. Open to all, the doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the movie begins at 9 a.m.
