5 Things to Know in Murrieta: Jan. 14

Students of the MVUSD return from winter break today.

1. The beginning of the week will have areas of frost before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Otherwise, today expect sunny skies with a high around 50. Tonight, expect clear skies and a low of 32.

2. Schools in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District are back in session today after being closed for winter break. Beware of additional traffic and pedestrians early in the morning and afternoon. To check your child's start and dismissal times, click here.

3. Here's what's for lunch today at elementary schools in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District: bean and cheese burrito. Lunches are served with a fresh fruit/salad bar and a choice of juice or milk. Lunches average about 658 calories and 16.29 percent fat. To see middle and high school menus, click here.

4. Today, and possibly tomorrow, the Murrieta Public Library will be going through a system upgrade. During that time there will be no access to catalogs, issuing of new or replacement library cards and fines will not be able to be collected. The only service provided will be check out and patrons must bring their library cards in order to do so. 

5. Participating Chick-fil-A restaurants, including the Murrieta location, are giving away a variety of free breakfast entrées beginning today, to customers who make a reservation online. To schedule your free breakfast, click here.
