5 Things to Know in Murrieta: Jan. 12

The eighth "Local Art in Public Places" exhibit kicks off at 2 p.m. at the Murrieta Public Library with an artists' reception.

1. There will be areas of frost before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Otherwise, today expect sunny skies with a high around 50. Tonight, expect mostly clear skies and a low of 23.

2. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, the public is invited to meet local artists whose work will be on display at the Murrieta Public Library, 8 Town Square, for the next several weeks. There will be live music and refreshments during the reception for this latest exhibit of "Local Arts in Public Places." For more information about the event, click here.

3. Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Lakeshore Learning Center, kids can create their own unique flip book and story. Located at 24420 Village Walk Place, the activity is free and materials will be provided. Get there early, as it is first come first serve.

4. Participating Chick-fil-A restaurants, including the Murrieta location, are giving away a variety of free breakfast entrées beginning Monday, Jan. 14, to customers who make a reservation online. To schedule your free breakfast, click here.

5. Each year the Murrieta High Schools’ Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to outstanding college-bound Murrieta Valley Unified School District seniors. Scholarships are presented by local merchants, school groups, organizations, and individuals in the amount of $250 or more. Interested students must submit an application by the deadline of 4 p.m. Feb. 12. Click here to learn more.
