5 Things to Know in Murrieta: Dec. 24

It's Christmas Eve!

1. There is a special weather statement forewarning of more rain, according to the National Weather Service. An 80 percent chance of rain was forecast for Christmas Eve in Murrieta, mainly before 10 a.m. Otherwise, expect cloudy skies with a high around 58. Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies and a low of 41.

2. Murrieta City Hall is closed today through Tuesday in observance of the holiday. The Community Services Department is also closed; both reopen Wednesday. The Murrieta Public Library is also closed. The library reopens Thursday, Dec. 27. View the Library's holiday hours by clicking here.

3. Students of the Murrieta Valley Unified School District are officially on winter break. School will resume Jan. 14, 2013. For more information, visit the district's website by clicking here.

4. Space is still available to sign up for the Community Flea Market on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Booth Spaces are $15 for one spot (10x10) or $25 for two spots. You must provide your own tables, chairs and canopies. So clean out the house, garage and closets and come sell your items. Businesses are welcome; however, no vendors are allowed. Application and payment must be made in person at the Murrieta Senior Center, 5 Town Square.

5. Enjoy Christmas Eve by ice skating in Old Town Temecula at 41000 Main St. The rink will remain open daily until Jan. 6. For more information such as hours and admission prices, click here.
