5 Things to Know In Murrieta: March 15

The Murrieta Mesa High School Drama Company debuts its spring musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie" tonight.

1. A storm is drawing nearer, according to the National Weather Service. Today expect patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy followed by a gradual clearing and a high near 70. Tonight, expect patchy fog after 11 p.m., increasing clouds with a low near 45.

2. The Drama Company debuts its spring musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” tonight at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $8 for students and $10 for adults. The event will go through the weekend with more performances beginning Thursday of next week. The Saturday matinee show is an outreach to seniors in the local area. The cost for seniors for that show is only $1.

3. Here's what's for lunch today at elementary schools in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District: hamburger and SunChips. Lunches are served with a fresh fruit/salad bar and a choice of juice or milk. Lunches average about 658 calories and 16.29 percent fat. To see middle and high school menus, click here.

5. The deadline to apply for the city of Murrieta's annual talent showcase; “A Night Among the Stars” is tomorrow. Scheduled for held March 30, the Talent Showcase is a chance for any youth 5-18 to show off their skills in front of a live audience. There are two age categories: Juniors 5-11 and Seniors 12-18. Participants have four minutes to demonstrate any skill they please. Each participant will walk away with a certificate highlighting an award the judges have chosen.
