Man Gunned Down on San Jacinto Street, Suspects Sought

 A man shot to death on a San Jacinto street was identified Thursday as a 37-year-old San Jacinto resident.

Runar Simon Claus was gunned down around 9:30 Wednesday night in the 100 block of South San Jacinto Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of an assault and found Claus mortally wounded, a sheriff's sergeant said. He was pronounced dead at Hemet Valley Medical Center less than 30 minutes later.

A possible motive for the shooting was not disclosed, and it was not immediately clear whether investigators had identified a suspect.
