OBITUARY: Former Murrieta Resident Stanley E. Williams, 93, Dies

The following obituary about a former Murrieta resident was submitted to Patch by Bowman Funeral Parlor on behalf of the deceased's family:

Stanley Everett Williams died November 10, 2013 in Boise, Idaho at age 93. He was born April 23,1920 in Santa Monica, California.

He is survived by his wife Wendy Hyler Williams, his brother Art Williams, his daughters Penny Hamilton and Roben Latham, grandchildren Alysa Behrin, Scott Hamilton, Robert Hamilton, Saaj Latham, Tawny Wasson and Charlene Gonzales, and great-grandchildren Kyle Kranz-Hamilton, Elise Kranz-Hamilton, and Scott E. Gonzales- Williams.

Stan worked at the Lockheed Plant in Burbank during the early part of WWII building B-17 Flying Fortresses. At the start of WWII Stan signed up with the Army for flight training and was sent to Ft. Sill Oklahoma. After the war he moved back to Burbank to resume his work at Lockheed. He was cut back with the reduction in forces and moved to Bass Lake, California where he joined his Dad, Silas Williams, working in a machine shop.

In 1949 he traveled to Canada and Alaska and on his return he met and married Wendy. They lived in Hollywood, California and were amateur competitors in ballroom dancing and ice-skating. Stan, Wendy, and Roben traveled throughout Europe where Stan sketched and painted. Upon their return they began sailing and he built a beautiful cement tri-hull sailboat, the Wendy-Roben.

Stan and Wendy moved to Boise in 1993 to be near Roben and Saaj. He instituted the "Goathead Roundup", a group of concerned citizens dedicated to eradicating puncture vines. They joined the local Satsang and made numerous pilgrimages to India.

Throughout his life he was a prolific artist, returning from world travels with books of sketches, many of which he developed into artistic renditions using various mediums.

Cremation services are being handled by Bowman Funeral Parlor. Ashes will be interred at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a hospice organization of your choice or to the episcopal relief and development fund.
