Nonprofit Helps Senior's Wish Come True

Local nonprofit, Seniors Having One Wish Foundation grants another scooter to a senior!

As 67-year-old Billie Suter slowly eased herself into her new scooter, decorated with a red, white and blue Independence Day pinwheel and bright red bow, the partially paralyzed woman finally could celebrate her own renewed independence.

The local nonprofit organization, Seniors Having One Wish Foundation, presented Suter with a $500 scooter in the dining hall at Temecula's Chateau at Harveston, the senior independent living community in which she lives.

The recently formed 501(c)3 organization grants wishes for senior citizens 65 and older throughout Riverside County.

It is the second scooter the nonprofit has given away.

Suter's speech is severely impaired and she is paralyzed on one side of her body following a massive stroke several years ago. Suter, unable to voice her thoughts, displayed them with emotion. She frequently placed her one mobile hand over her heart, wiped away tears and blew kisses.

The quality of life will be much more pleasant for Billie as she can now ride to the lake, feed the ducks and enjoy more of the outdoors.

"I am committed to making a difference in people's lives" says, Marsha Anderson, founder of the S.H.O.W. Foundation. "It gives me great pleasure to make a heart smile."
