Pancakes, Penguins and Panache

Lynda StarWriter Pancakes, Penguins and Panache. A 2012 Christmas holiday blog post.

Celine Dion’s rendition of the song, ‘Oh, Holy Night’, brings me to my knees in peaceful humility, while the tune, 'Jingle Bells' is pretty snappy. The smell of pancakes wafting through the air on a cold, winter’s night blankets my childhood memories like sweet, warm, maple syrup spilling over the fluffy fare. The sound of children laughing and squealing with excitement, sliding this way and that down an icy slope, brings me giggly delight.

Driving around the neighborhood in the evening, mesmerized by the glowing, blinking, musically choreographed, colorful light shows, blaring with decorative panache, is wonderfully entertaining. Glittering Christmas trees, parades, chocolate fudge, cookies, turkey, cranberry sauce, the Nutcracker Ballet, candy canes, school plays, carols, cards, warmed, apple cider, caroling, snow skiing, the ambience of a glowing fire place and penguin images donning knit caps amid dancing snowflakes allows me to bask in a welcomed, seasonal, whirlwind of holiday spirit.  As I share some of the gifts freely given to me via a video montage to Jingle Bells, I wish each of you a joyous and abundant holiday season and prosperous, wonderful 2013.
