What Moms Want

The best Mother's Day gift ever!

When I was growing up, our mom always asked for the same thing each Mother's Day. Each Mother's Day she wanted to not have to clean, to not have to cook, and to just be able to sit and relax. We were such lovely and sweet children; we wanted to give her so much more than that. How silly was she???  We gave her flowers, cards, pictures and shows; all of which I am sure she loved and appreciated very much. But let's face it. Moms want something that money can not buy...well it can...we will get to that momentarily.

This year my mother said she wanted an overnight stay at a nice hotel with room service. Oh man! Be still my heart. That sounds absolutely heavnly. When she said that, I was immediatley caught up in the image of me and only me in a hotel room taking a nap because I could. I could go swimming, though I probably would just skip it since the pool would be filled with kids. I could order in and watch TV. I could read a book, take a shower or bath. And I would be alone! Yes, sometimes a mom wants to be alone. We love breakfast in bed, cards, flowers and pictures. But if you want to make moms really happy, give the best gift you can this year. Privacy. Dads take the kids to the park for a couple of hours. You still have to make dinner, or take her out whichever you desire. We still want those things. But we also want a true day of rest and relaxtion. A day where we do not have to do anything unless we truly want to.

I hope all the moms out there have a fabulous and special day. And though it may come just once a year, they really do love you that much and more every single day of the year. Happy Mother's Day!!!
