Support Continues for Murrieta Valley Senior Hit by Car

Supporters of Kaitlyn Parra, who suffered severe brain injuries in a pedestrian accident, will be taking donations for her medical expenses at Murrieta Valley's homecoming game Friday.

This weekend’s high school football matchup between Murrieta Valley Nighthawks and CIF Champion Elsinore Tigers will see more than just great tackles and awesome runs.

The homecoming game at will also honor a local champ who has been fighting for her life since Aug. 16.

“For the last six weeks, we bonded to support Kaitlyn and her family,” said Carol Stickles, a family friend. “Kaitlyn remains in stable condition in the ICU and continues to slowly show progress. Yesterday she was able to response to little commands, she easily gets overwhelmed which makes her heart rate goes way up.

"As a community, we continue to pray and help as much as we can.”

To help the family with medical expenses, a fundraising campaign will kick off at Friday’s homecoming game with collection boxes being passed around the stands. Gametime is 7 p.m.

“Any amount is sincerely appreciated,” Stickles said.

Additionally, an account in Kaitlyn’s name has been opened at Chase Bank, Cal Oaks Branch in Murrieta.
