Lighthouse: Providing a Beacon of Hope

Helping the youth of Murrieta and Temecula.

Lighthouse Christian Center in Murrieta, is taking a proactive approach to helping the citizens of Temecula Valley.

On Friday, Aug. 19, Lighthouse Christian Center sponsored the first of many planned quarterly youth outreach activities. More than 40 youths were treated to a night of music, food, fellowship and motivational/spiritual speaking. Expenses for the event (food and refreshments) were donated by parents and local businesses Ambassador Energy, McDonald's, Starbucks, Gary Denny Insurance, Subway and Cold Stone.

Bruce Pennington, pastor of Lighthouse Christian Center is excited for the opportunity "to reach the youth of our community with the message of Jesus Christ."

He felt the event was a complete success, seeing 10 new young people attend that were not at previous events. Further, he was excited about the interaction between the community and the church, working together for the benefit of our children.

Our world today is complex, stressful and full of pathways and pitfalls that can lead to unhappy and unhealthy lives. We need to equip our youth (as well as ourselves) with the tools and skills to help them navigate the obstacle course called life and help them find peace; the kind of peace that comes in our body, mind and spirit are in complete agreement.

Pastor Bruce said that the church is in the process of searching for a youth pastor to volunteer time so that “we can better focus as a team to reach and equip the our youth and in so doing help the families.”

He's excited about connecting with the youth and providing positive influences and further he stated that, “it’s great to show young people that they can have a spiritual high without drugs.”

Pastor Bruce is looking forward to getting to know the community and how his church can help meet their needs.

Lighthouse Christian Center plans to serve Thanksgiving Dinner to the needy on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Several of the youth have already expressed interest in helping to prepare and serve the meals. If you or your children would like to get involved and help out at Thanksgiving or to attend one of our outreach events please call Pastor Bruce at 951 698-7633.
