EMWD Launches 'Tap Into the Tap' Campaign

Initiated by EMWD, the campaign is designed to bring awareness to the quality, reliability and value that tap water brings.

Tap into the tap—that is what Eastern Municipal Water District is encouraging its customers to do this year, as Riverside County’s largest water agency kicks off a new campaign that will promote the quality, reliability and value of drinking tap water.

The campaign, initiated by EMWD and in partnership with Western Municipal Water District, Riverside Public Utilities, Rancho California Water District, Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District and Corona Department of Water and Power, is designed to bring awareness to the quality, reliability and value that tap water brings us.

Throughout the year, EMWD and its partnering agencies will be using the Tap Into brand at community events, in messaging and on signage throughout the community, including billboards, banners and advertising.

  • Quality: Tap water is held to stringent standards set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Department of Public Health. EMWD conducts more than 46,000 water quality tests each year to ensure its water meets and exceeds those standards.
  • Reliability: Public water agencies have made significant investments to ensure that when you turn on your tap, you can be assured that water will be available. Through these investments, few things more reliable than tap water.
  • Value: At less than a penny per gallon, drinking tap water is an economically sound decision and among the best values around. Compare those costs to bottled water, which has the largest mark-up of any item at a grocery store.

EMWD is continually making investments to ensure that our customers have access to a tap water supply that is of high quality, reliable and a sound value for those living, working and playing in our service area.

Tap Into stations will be installed at several recreational facilities in 2014, allowing guests to fill their reusable bottles free-of-charge. EMWD’s fill station will be at a number of community events throughout the region, allowing customers to sample EMWD’s water and to learn more about the benefits of drinking tap water.

“Quality, reliability and value are things each and every person looks for in every decision they make,” EMWD Board President Phil Paule said. “When it comes to your water supply, those attributes should be no different.

“At EMWD, we pride ourselves on ensuring that our customers receive the best quality, reliability and value in their drinking water supply. We invite everyone to leave the bottled water behind and Tap Into the tap in 2014.”
