We Elect Our Own Dictators

In a totalitarian state the government controls the people. In a Republic the people control the government. Dictators can not enslave a people without first deceiving them. The elected officials can not control the people unless they can convince the people that it is necessary for them to give up a portion of their liberty for the collective good of the community.

In a Republic the people are free to do whatever they wish as long as they do not violate the life, liberty or property of another. In a Republic, the laws are written to punish those that violate the life, liberty or property of members of the community.

In a community ruled by dictators there are rules, regulations and ordinances that are written to control the behavior of the people. To the dictator controlling the people is much more important than the public safety.

According to our Founding Fathers, we were endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights. Why is it that local governments require licenses and permits to exercise rights that granted to us by our Creator?

The Declaration of Independence states that governments are instituted among men deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. We are the employers and the government is our employee. We have rights, and government only has the privileges that have granted to them.

In Murrieta we have a City Council that believes that promoting public safety is more important than honoring their oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitutions. Virtually every decision they make tends to increase the size and scope of local government or it does not. Every time the government issues a new regulations or ordinance, we become slaves on the local plantation.
