The very first of the Bill of Rights states: "The government shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or denying the free exercise of thereof or abridging the freedom of speech or the press or the right of the people to peacefully assemble and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.
Apparently the Judge that ruled on the Murrieta Right Light Camera Case doesn't understand that we have a unalienable right to petition our government. The Murrieta City Council Members all swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, but when they took that oath they had their fingers crossed. The Judge and the City Council should honor their oath and "We the People" must collectively hold them accountable for violating their oath.
The people of Murrieta have a Constitutional Right guaranteed to them in the U.S. Constitution and the California State Constitution to petition their City government for a redress of grievances. We elected the members of the City Council to protect our rights. By remaining neutral, the City Council has turned their back on the residents of Murrieta and the Constitutions that they have sworn to protect. They either lack an understanding of the Constitution or think that honoring their commitment to the people and the Constitution can be ignored whenever they feel it is necessary to do so.
