Summer fun in the neighborhood!

Last week I took the kids for a little ride into Temecula for some berry picking and some “unplugged” family time.  It was a little hot but so worth it to grab a bucket and hunt for the best berries on the farm.  It’s free to go into the farm and there are chickens and pigs and lots of blueberry bushes.  It is a pretty short season.  (they usually go through the fourth of July, but they will evaluate whether or not there are enough berries to go through the fourth, by Monday, so head out QUICK!) They have been open for a little over a month but there were still some left.  If you like an old fashioned treasure hunt, you will love this.  We only picked a few from each bush and then moved on . . . just time talking, picking and comparing who had the biggest berry.  All good clean fun!

They have a chicken show at 3:00 pm daily, but my favorite thing was just watching all the little folks getting so excited about finding “the perfect berry” and listening to my kids laugh and work together. 

There are just a few more days to take advantage of blueberry picking season!  Don’t miss it!

Their hours are 8:00am – 6:00pm, seven days a week.  You pick your own and they are sooo yummy.  Price is reasonable, not much more than you would pay for the same amount in the market but oh, the taste is AMAZING!

Tomorrow night they will be showing the movie, “Faith like Potatoes” that is based on a true story about a farming family.  I have seen this movie and LOVE it but it’s really not for little guys. (9 and up ok)  It deals with faith issues, loss and the hardships of a farming family.  Join them Friday, June 28th at 8:00pm and bring a chair and some tissues.
