This Murrieta Girl's Dad Is Dying of Cancer. What Friends Did So He Could Walk Her Down the Aisle Will Leave You in Tears

He may not be able to see his daughter's big day when she is married, but he was able to walk her down the aisle.

A Murrieta man who has terminal pancreatic cancer was recently able to share that special moment with his 11-year-old daughter in a surprise wedding ceremony, according to news reports.

KTLA reports that 62-year-old Jim Metz was declared "daddy and daughter" in a backyard ceremony on his daughter Josie's birthday.

It was all made possible by photographer Lindsey Natzic Villatoro, who reached out to her friends to help pull off the event, according to an online photo slideshow she posted.

"In 72 hours I managed to make one little girl's wish to have her daddy attend her wedding come true," the slideshow starts.

“One day (you) wake up and realize you’re given the opportunity to change someone’s life for the better. You get an idea, don’t think twice and run with it,” Villatoro wrote, adding that she was able to get hair and makeup artists and other wedding day specialists in on it, too.

The event was attended by friends, family and Pastor Gary Galbraith, according to the Press Enterprise.

“Your dad may not get to see you get married, but he is here to walk you down the aisle today,” Galbraith said, according to the PE. “The daddy and daughter relationship is one of the most special relationships in life.”
