The following is a press release from the Murrieta Fire Department:

On March 9, 2014, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, The Murrieta Fire Department held a charity event for  St. Baldrick’s, a cancer research foundation for children.

At the event, a licensed hair stylist shaved the heads of willing participants that included Murrieta City Council Member Randon Lane, Murrieta Fire Chief Matt Shobert and Murrieta Police Chief Sean Hadden.

The event was organized with help from the Murrieta Fire department by the Hill Family of Murrieta/Temecula Valley area, whose 9-year-old daughter Samantha Hill is a survivor of liver cancer.

$7,500 was raised in donations from the event with the goal being $1,500.

Think how much could've been given to charity if the bogus "subscription fee" extorted from Murrietan homeowners was given instead for cancer research? Instead we get stunts like this so they can keep their bloated salaries and pensions. If Murrieta Fire and Police want to impress me? Each member kick in $300 a month from their own wages.
